Witte Museum Field Trip

I chaperoned Sarah's class field trip to the Witte Museum. They had 2 presentations, one on Matter & another on animals. We also had an hour in-between to explore on our own.

Givin' a Flip or 2!

We had a pretty busy weekend. One thing was when Dana's gymnastics team performed at Windfest on Saturday. It was a very pretty day.

And Sarah got to hop around too!

By the way, that little bird has flown away. Yeah!

Double Pocket Card

This is the card for today's New Technique challenge over at Splitcoast. We were to make a Double Pocket Card. Judy has a great tutorial on her blog, Jar Full of Joy

RECIPE:
Stamps: Office Accoutrement, Linen
Paper: Paper Notations, Garden Green, Groovy Guava
Ink: Colorbox Chalk in Yellow Ochre & Dark Moss
Accessories: MM brads, SU rhinestone brad, Spring Moss Grosgrain, Eastern Elegance Rubons, crop-a-dile
Technique: Double Pocket Card
Difficulty: 1 (easy peasy lemon squeezy)

Poor Little Birdie (aka: a good reason not to clean)

As I was uploading my card for the daily challenge, I heard a very loud thud on my back door. I've heard this noise before & knew what it was, but never this loud before. I looked out to find a poor little bird completely dazed on its back. It was blinking its eyes and moving its legs a bit so I left it alone to recover. I figured why add the trauma of a giant trying to "help". I checked on it a little bit ago and it's sitting up. Looks like he's got a doozie of a headache. And now, a bit later he's still in that spot but looking around and chirping. Hopefully he's gonna be ok. Guess I should relax about cleaning my back door and maybe put some window clings up so birds stop getting knocked out.

Any birders out there who can tell me about this beauty?

Driving by with a birthday "Hi"

One of our very bestest friends turns 40 this Sunday. He has a superstition about buying red trucks - they're lucky. It was love at first sight when I saw this "Loads of Love" stamp set. It may have been the first set I ever bought when I started stamping 1 1/2 years ago.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Loads of Love, Loads of Love Accessories, Lots of Thoughts
Paper: Whisper White, watercolor, glorious green, night of navy
Ink: real red, night of navy, glorious green
Accessories: scallop punch, CM wavy trimmer, CM cutting system

Yummy Stacked Stems

LOL! Not that I'm planning on eating any stems, it's just that the name of the papers I used on this card are soooooo yummy! Probably a little too wintery for this time of year. Especially here in Texas. I think I just totally made up a word - is "wintery" a real word? Maybe my favorite "Word Nerd" David Cook would know! HEEHEE! OK, that was a bit fan-girly, but COME ON! Have you heard this guy sing?!?
Back to the card ~

This combines 2 Splitcoast challenges: TLC163 - Stacked Ribbon; SC171
The main image was completely inspired by this canvas at Target.
RECIPE:
Stamp: Stem Silhouettes
Paper: Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Apple Cider DSP (See what I mean!?!)
Ink: River Rock, Soft Sky, White Stazon
Accessories: Pure Pom Satin Ribbon, Offray Brown Minicheck ribbon, clear embossing powder, Antique Brass Hardware - ribbon slide & brad
Technique: heat embossing

Thanks for stopping by & have a Blessed Day!

Rock & Roll and a Celebrity Interview

Hello all!

So apparently there was an earthquake here in south Texas this morning. Word is it happened around 4:50 am (Central) and was around 3.0 on the Richter scale. I have to say I slept right thru it. I sleep too soundly in the mornings. In fact it's a rare occasion when I hear DH's alarm. I had that problem in High School too. I can't tell you how many hurried mornings I had. God Bless Carnation Instant Breakfast!!!

Back to the earthquake business - the one we had in Hawaii October 2006 was "fun"! It was around 8 am (local) on a Saturday so it did wake us all up. No damage where we were on Oahu, but apparently there was a little damage on Maui & Hawaii (the big island).

My friend Lakendra Lewis recently interviewed May Pang. If you are unaware, May was John Lennon's girlfriend when he was killed. May has written a book about the relationship. You can find the interview here.

*************************************************************************************

Green Carte

Stamps: Carte Postale; Paper: Whisper White, Wild Wasabi DP; Ink: Wild Wasabi; Clear Embossing Powder, Grosgrain Ribbon

Oopsie!

Yes I know I've been a bad poster lately! I made a really cute card for my niece's 11th birthday on Wednesday. But you'll have to take my word for it cuz I forgot to take a picture before I dropped it off at her house.

I used Stampin Up's Birthday Whimsy stamp set (Sale-A-Bration 2008), pixie pink, green galore, and only orange, also some Diamond Stickles to give it lots of sparkle. It was a combo of these 2: Celebrate the Bliss of New Stuff
and by stinkincute

I'm hoping to hit the craft table today before I go teach art to my DD's 2nd grade class. If I do, I promise to take pictures and share!
